TAS 6.0 has been released!!!
TAS 6.0 was officially released by Business Tools on Thursday, March 15, 2001.
An official demo can be loaded at
www.business-tools.com
under "Downloads" which includes a complete install. The help is extensive and well documented and available in both
a PDF and HLP. And there is a full tutorial! You can further purchase TAS 6.0 directly thru the Business Tools web site
(and if you are going to upgrade from a prior version of TAS, the month of March is the time to do it in view of various
specials being made which will expire on March 31). The Business Tools web site will be the official/first source of support
for TAS 6.0. However the forum on
Delphi which we started and maintain will remain dedicated to the discussion
of any issue related to the TAS language including version 6.0. (TAS 6.0 users will certainly want to sign up onto the Business
Tools LISTBOT.) We will also be publishing support memos and other information relating to TAS 6.0 in the support section of this web site. The TAS 6.0 product literally has involved thousands of hours of development and beta testing in connection with
which we have been intimately involved. It most likely will represent the most solid initial release ever. (Beta testing has been
ongoing since at least late 1999! Actual complex systems have been built and deployed using 6.0 and substantially tested in a multi-user
environment and on a number of different platforms. This is not vapor ware!)
The initial 6.0 release will support Btrieve/Pervasive data files and within the very near future, a CodeBase alternative will also
be available. We believe that TAS 6.0 will provide a new alternative to GUI based database programming especially for accounting/financial
applications which will offer numerous advantages over the other relatively few options that currently exist. While no Windows development
leads to rapid development no matter what claim someone might make (Windows programming by its nature involves time consuming user interface issues),
we believe that TAS may in many situations involve a 50% or more time savings over other alternatives and offers many other significant advantages.
(9/00) TAS 6.0 is expected to be released in October. A seminar is scheduled for November 3-4, 2000 in Salt Lake City which will include a comparison of TAS 5.1 and TAS 6.0. Phil Mickelson, the president of Business Tools, Inc. and the creator of the TAS language will be in attendance to answer questions and outline new features. CEO's, owners/managers/controllers of registered Advanced Accounting 5.1 systems who are interested in seeing the technology that Advanced 6.0 will be built on are invited to attend the November 3 meeting at a special rate (limit two per company). This will be a unique opportunity to meet the creator of TAS and Advanced Accounting and help you to plan your future mission critical technology plans. For registration information,
click here. A discount of 50% for additional participants from the same company is available in connection with all seminars.
(5/00) We've received a lot of positive feedback about our Advanced Accounting seminar in Corpus Christi. Advanced Accounting dealers/consultants Stanley Francis and Jerry Crisco were in attendance. Thanks to everyone who attended. Our next seminar will be held in September in Salt Lake City.
