XP Screen setting (DOS mode)
Previous  Top  Next

The default number of screen lines in Microsoft XP is 50 and under XP you may need to make one of the following adjustments:

Run the DOS mode in a Windows (press ALT-ENTER if necessary). Click on the icon in the upper left hand corner and in the screen properties change the screen buffer size height to 25 lines.

Or in the ADV.BAT add this line:

MODE CON:COLS=80 LINES=25

This can be done as follows:

(1) Bring up NOTEPAD (Programs --> Accessories --> Notepad)

(2) Click on File then Open and then retrieve the ADV.BAT file that exists in the application where Advanced Accounting is installed - problaby C:\ADV50 or C:\ADV51. You can browse to it or just type in the path, e.g. C:\ADV50\ADV.BAT.

(3) Edit ADV.BAT as follows:

Right BEFORE the line that says TPC50 BKMENU add this line:

MODE CON:COLS=80 LINES=25

So your entire batch file might look something like this (new line is added is in bold):

echo off
cls
echo.
echo              Loading ADVANCED ACCOUNTING 5.1
echo.
set tas50=
MODE CON:COLS=80 LINES=25
tpc50 bkmenu
SET TASEXT=

The key is to have the MODE statement before the TPC50 statement.

(4) Save the ADV.BAT - click on File then Save.

(5) Exit NOTEPAD. Now try running the application.
